Apache Junction, Arizona

Photographer in Apache Junction, AZ

Apache Junction is directly east of Mesa and sits at the foot of the Superstition Mountains, which is reason enough to shoot there. Lost Dutchman State Park puts the whole range behind you, Goldfield adds an old-west set, and the Apache Trail climbs into canyon country.

If you want the Arizona that people picture, this is where I take them. Seniors, families, couples, and cars.

Where to shoot in Apache Junction

Mountains, desert, and a little old west.

Lost Dutchman State Park

The Superstition Mountains at full scale, saguaros in the foreground. Best in the last hour of light. Park entry fee applies.

Goldfield Ghost Town

Wooden storefronts and mining-town props with the Superstitions behind. Fun for seniors and themed sessions. Check the property's photography rules first.

Apache Trail, State Route 88

Winding desert road toward Canyon Lake. Pullouts with canyon views, and a strong option for automotive shoots.

Superstition Mountain trailheads

Several public trailheads with quick access to boulders, cholla, and mountain views without a long hike.

Common questions

Do you shoot at Lost Dutchman State Park?

Yes. It is one of the best backdrops in the East Valley. There is a per-vehicle entry fee, and we plan the session around sunset.

Can we shoot senior photos with the Superstitions in the background?

Yes. That is the most requested look in Apache Junction, and it works for portraits, couples, and family sessions too.

Is Apache Junction in your service area?

Yes. It borders Mesa on the east side, so it is an easy trip. Tell me the spot and the date.

Want the Superstitions in your photos?

Tell me the session and I will plan it around the light.
